The hardness of the water is made by carbonates and sulfates of Ca and Mg. To prevent the lime scale of appearing in the boilers and process equipment, water is subjected to the treatment called softening, and the filters used are called SOFTENERS.
The filling of the softeners is ion exchange resin which work principle is bounding the ions of Ca and Mg, which prevents the creation of the lime scale in the process. So, softeners work on the ion exchange principle.
The softeners are used in water treatments applied at the following purposes:
- the preparation of boiler water,
- the preparation of water for the cooling system,
- the preparation of water for washing and scavenging,
- in all the cases where there is needed removing the hardness of water.
PRACTICAL EXAMPLES AND ECONOMICAL BENEFIT WE GET BY USING THE SOFTENED WATER:
- ~ 50% of detergent and soap saving
- ~ 30% less clothes chafing
- ~ 60% of power consumption for hot water heating*
- ~ 90% of saving on the repairs and replacement of the apparatuses and parts**
* 2 mm of lime scale coating on the heater
** boiler-room, boiler, dishwasher, washing machine, water taps, pumps, heaters…
Reference: Contingent upon the buyer’s need you can manage the softeners manually (by valves) or automatically and they can be duplex or mono based.
